The Ramp

About the design....
Transparancey was an important element when constructing the space for Jacques-Yves to resemble the free and weightless feeling of the ocean and represent his connection with the sea. His space behind the wall resembles his under sea vehicles. Alfred Nobel's space infront of the wall was created with inspiration from his ideas as a scientist, inventor, entrepreneur, creating things i didn't think i would be able to with this software.

I created to the ramp to spiral around, everything is exposed. I applied the textures to magnify the effect of the long ramp and the journey you take to meet someone.

The meeting place is suspended above most the "in front of the wall" structure and has glass as the floor "revealing truth's nakedness".

The Quotes...
“Hope is beneath the earth’s surface. Man carries the weight of nature’s veil, bolted on his shoulders, hiding truth’s nakedness beneath the surface, only to sink…. and he his free” - Electroliquid quote
"From birth, man carries the weight of gravity on his shoulders. He is bolted to earth. But man has only to sink beneath the surface and he is free." - Jacques Yves Cousteau
"Hope is nature's veil for hiding truth's nakedness." - Alfred Noble

Unreal Tournament Draft

Using elements from my axonometrics as a starting point for my design, i created a space where the clients can meet on the ramp. The space behind the wall belongs to Jacques-Yves Cousteau whilst the space infront of the wass belongs to Alfred Nobel.

Axonometrics in Unreal Tournament

The axonometrics created in UT took longer to create and has a completely different effect. The program offers many options that just aren't available in SketchUp. There are so many options available to create the architecture you desire (lighting, textures, shapes).

The Black Box

The Black Box

Looking at the shadows themselves, before seeing an object sparks an incredible sense of mystery. It provokes imagination and intrique, instantly. The shadows cast on a surface, complex or simple give the object a more real feel. They connect the viewer to the space and surroundings. Each of the drawings, photos or watercolours force some sort of emotion, i think the shadows play a big role in this.

The project is very unique with the chosen layout. It is just so effective down to the last, final detail. So many elements, obviously created in a number of programs, have been combined to give the desired effect.

In my own design, i am trying to achieve similar effects by creating shadows, by adjusting the position and qualities of light, that further connect the clients with the space i have created.

Electroliquid Aggregation

Using Sketch up to create these models was so much faster and so much easier to make adjustments and correct mistakes. It's also nice to be able to look at the drawing from many different angles and know exactly how it looks.
